Equal Rights for All Mumbaikars — Strong Demand by Vilas Rupawate to the Chief Minister
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Vilas Rupawate has demanded that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis grant equal housing rights to all Mumbaikars. He urged the government to provide 500 sq. ft. homes to residents of Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar and Kamaraj Nagar, similar to Dharavi’s redevelopment plan.
Mr. Vilas Rupawate emphasized that while Chief Minister Fadnavis’ decision to allot 500 sq. ft. homes to Dharavi residents under the redevelopment project is commendable, the same benefit must be extended to residents of other slum areas across Mumbai — especially Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar and Kamaraj Nagar.
Recently, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, performed the bhoomipujan (foundation ceremony) for the redevelopment project at Ghatkopar’s Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar and Kamaraj Nagar. During the event, the leaders spoke passionately about Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mata Ramabai, and the hardworking labor class. However, Mr. Vilas Rupawate has urged the government to translate those words into action.
He stated, “If Dharavi residents are being allotted 500 sq. ft. homes, then residents of Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar and Kamaraj Nagar deserve the same. If the Mahayuti government works only in favor of big businessmen like Adani, it will be an injustice to the common people of Mumbai.”
Mr. Vilas Rupawate further warned, “If the government fails to provide equal rights to all Mumbaikars, the people will show their power in the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.”
Conclusion:
The demand made by Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) State Organizer Mr. Vilas Rupawate has sparked widespread discussion in Mumbai’s political and social circles. All eyes are now on Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his government to see how they respond to this call for equality and justice.
